Class Pets

LaFawnduh is our classroom snapping turtle. She was brought in as a hatchling in the fall of 2005 (Mr. H's first year). She has seen a lot in her time and occasionally students are allowed to feed her. We usually give her chopped up hot dogs, but sometimes she gets feeder fish as a treat.Lafawnduh eats hot dogs, but doesn't mind the occasional Goldfish.

CRUSH Two years ago a Yellow-Bellied Slider was left to us by a student who no longer wanted him as a pet, after and upgrade in tank size he seemed to settle in. He prefers eating pellets and mealworms and sunning himself on his rock.

BLUE - In the summer of 2016 my youngest daughter & I rescued a Blue Jay chick that had fallen from her nest. We spotted her several times around the scaffolding of the roof construction and could hear her parents calling to her.
When last we saw her she was able to fly several yards and was growing, so if you see a Bluejay about town, it could be her.

Bluejays however, aren't blue in the way you think. They have structural color not blue pigments.
