How to make FOOD CHAINS & FOOD WEBS

For the individual portion of our Habitat Hold'em Lab you can complete the paper copy of the lab using one suit of our cards (DESERT, FOREST, MARINE or FRESHWATER). Or you can complete the work out of class using the Google Slides I sent to your school email.

Energy generally flows in one direction and for our food chains it will go from left to right. That means your Producers and Herbivores should be on the LEFT  and your Carnivores and Top of the Food Chain should be on the RIGHT.

If you take your 5 card Food Chain and stand it on it's end, you'll have more than half your food web done. You'll just need to add 3 cards to the appropriate levels and connect food to consumers (eaters) with arrows. In Food Webs the ARROWS generally go UP, although occasionally they can go sideways. If arrows are going down, then your cards are in the wrong position or level.
