Life is Surprising

My daughter and I were doing our traditional evening walk around the schools when we came upon this surprise. We normally go around the back, but with the roof construction we had to walk around the front. As we rounded the 6th grade wing some Bulejays started yelling at us from the big oak tree. That's when my daughter noticed her.

She wasn't safe between the wall and the road, she was too young to fly and her nest was way too far up. So we found the nearest cover for her, where her parents would hopefully find her. I know most babies have it rough in the wild, even the "wild" of the TJHS yard. I'd like to think we improved her odds a little. Good luck.
