Get Ready for the Eclipse
Monday, August 21st we'll get to see a Solar Eclipse. It won't be a total eclipse in Pennsylvania, but we should see 75-80% coverage of the sun peaking around 2:35 (penlive eclipse 8.4.17). How rare is this event and how exactly does it work? Vox has a great description.
Solar Eclipses are very cool to watch, but a lot of important science can be done as well. Hank at the SciShow adds his 2 cents.
But most importantly NASA Goddard reminds you to be safe. Your eyes cannot feel when they are being damaged by light so view the eclipse with approved safety glasses or indirectly with a pinhole viewer.
