Keystone Species

A keystone is a stone that holds an arch together. A Keystone Species is a species that has a great impact on it's environment and without it many problems occur. SciShow gives us 3 examples.

For a much deeper exploration about why some species are more important to their ecosystem than others check out HHMI's video.

All of these species set off a trophic cascade that magnifies their effect on their environment. Sustainable Human looks at the cascade of Whales.
