Forest Fires and Succession

Forest fires can cause incredible damage, but these fires in some habitats are necessary for the health of the ecosystem.

Complete fire suppression can cause a problem when we deny nature the chance to clear out the dry dead branches and logs on the forest floor. Without these regular fires we create catastrophic conditions because so much fuel builds up.
