Unrelated to our current topics, there is a new Coronavirus spreading across the world. Here are some basic facts about the virus from The Guardian.

This transition from other animals to humans is not new and most of the time viruses that hop the species barrier aren't particularly deadly, but sometimes they are. TED Ed looks at diseases that have made the switch to humans.
