Viruses Keep Spilling Over

Viruses have probably been a part of life as long as life has existed, and like life they aere constantly changing. Sometimes however a virus can hop from one species to another giving it new opportunities to replicate and spread. TED Ed shows us how these "Spill-Overs" can occur.

Besides natural mutations, spill-overs events are one of the main sources of new disease. It all follows the same processes of Natural Selection. Stated Clearly explains how many viruses like COVID-19 come to find a new host species.

COVID-19 (or novel Coronavirus) is an example of one such spillover. It's particularly hard to stop the spread. Science Insider looks at why it's so hard to stop.
